Dogging: understand the interest, respect the boundaries

Dogging is a British term often used for sexual encounters involving people watching or taking part, commonly associated with outdoor settings. People use the word differently. Curiosity about it does not mean someone has agreed to meet, watch, participate or be recorded.

Talk about the interest before making plans

If this is an interest you want to discuss, ask whether the conversation is welcome first. Explain what you mean without sending unsolicited explicit messages or images. A profile tag is a conversation starter, not an invitation. Couples should speak for themselves as individuals; neither partner can give consent for the other.

Why a reported hotspot is not permission

Online lists can be old, inaccurate or based on hearsay. A reputation does not establish landowner permission, the presence of consenting adults or the suitability of a place. A public car park, beach or woodland can be used by families, workers and passers-by. Do not treat strangers or people in parked cars as participants.

Watching and recording need separate agreement

Consent to being in a place does not include consent to watching, joining in, filming or appearing in a photograph. Never follow people, crowd them, publish identifying details or pressure someone who is unsure. Stop when anyone declines or changes their mind. An observer is a person with boundaries, not part of the scenery.

Understand the public-space issue

In England and Wales, public sexual behaviour can engage offences including outraging public decency. Our linked CPS source explains that offence; it is not a UK-wide permission guide. Rules also differ across jurisdictions and sites. A quiet location or a private vehicle does not by itself make conduct lawful or private.

Research settings with published rules

Our outdoor venue research explains what named operators actually advertise, such as grounds, a terrace or camping. These are different settings, not a list of dogging sites. Contact the operator about admission and permitted activities. Ménage does not confirm who will attend, arrange access or guarantee a match.

Use Ménage without exposing your location

Joining Ménage is free. Start with respectful conversation, choose who may contact you and use blocks or reports when needed. Share only a broad area until you trust a contact. Never post a live location, registration number, private address or identifying details about another person. A public social first meeting is for conversation, not sexual activity.

Common questions

Does Ménage publish live dogging locations?

No. This page explains the interest and links to operator-sourced settings. It does not publish live member whereabouts, public hotspot coordinates or claims that strangers are available.

Is dogging the same as naturism?

No. Naturism concerns social nudity and does not imply sexual intent or consent. Do not assume a naturist setting permits sexual activity.

Does joining or buying Premium guarantee a meeting?

No. Joining is free, but no membership tier guarantees responses, attendance, access to a venue or a consenting partner.
